In winter this hole always plays longer than its indicated yardage, especially as it is usually played into the wind. Short hitters must aim to the left to avoid a big depression which gnaws into the fairway from the right. It is a 175-yard carry to clear it and, therefore, it presents no problem to the stronger player. The second shot is testing, with a bunker covering the right front of the green, and the putting surface slopes left to right and front to back, making it tricky to judge the pace of the approach. Putts can run away on the sloping green and pin positions at the back are the hardest.
