Long before the trees were planted it was possible to drive straight for the green, but today it is a matter of hitting a tee shot at least to the 150-yard marker plate (preferably further) in order to see the whole of the green on its hilltop round the trees to the left of this sharp dogleg. Although there is a bunker on the inside of the dogleg there is plenty of room. It is easy to misjudge the approach shot, for a bunker almost 50 yards in front of the green deceives the eye. A pin hidden behind the right-hand greenside bunker is not easy to access, while putting to a hole cut on the front of the putting surface can be tricky.
