Members and visitors are asked to ensure that they conform to a good, neat and clean standard of dress and footwear both on and off the course.

  This excludes:

Training shoes
Tracksuits, football/rugby shirts (or similar)
Denim garments
Sports or Beach shorts
Collarless shirts – except those specifically designed for golf
Gentlemen’s Sleeveless Shirts (Ladies may wear sleeveless golf wear)
Trouser bottoms may not be tucked into socks.

Gentlemen may wear knee length tailored shorts on the course only if accompanied by WHITE sports socks which cover the ankle not trainer style socks OR BLACK SOCKS WITH SHORTS.  Shorts are not allowed in the Clubhouse except in the Spike Bar, Member’s Bar, Clubroom and Lounge Bar.

Ladies may wear tailored shorts with ankle socks.

Gentlemen’s Shirts must be tucked inside the waistband but trousers may not be tucked into socks.

When playing the course golf shoes must be worn.

Caps & hats must be removed in the Clubhouse


Davenport Room, Torkington Room and Restaurant:
Smart casual dress may be worn up to 4.00pm (October to March) and 6.00pm (April to September). Thereafter, jacket and tie.

Clubroom, Snooker Room, Member’s Bar, Lounge Bar and Spike Bar:
Smart casual wear. Casual wear is deemed not to include clothing worn whilst playing the golf course on the day in question.

Persons not adhering to the above dress code may be asked to leave the Clubhouse or the Golf Course. Stockport Golf Club reserves the right to decide what is suitable dress and the Professional and his staff and members of staff of the Club have the full support of the Committee in enforcing these decisions.
