Juniors at Stockport Golf Club
At Stockport Golf Club we aim to provide a safe and friendly environment, enabling juniors to develop their golfing skills. Through the Junior Golf Programme our young people can develop friendship groups, respect for others and play fairly in accordance with R & A guidelines. We provide both social and competitive golf for juniors enabling them to develop their game and hopefully have a lifelong love of playing golf.
The Club is committed to the development of a thriving Junior Section.
Our activities include competitions normally played on Sundays, regular Saturday morning lessons and golf tuition days during school holidays arranged by our Professional, Jamie Storey and his Assistants Callum Hughes and Dan Featherstone.
Stockport Golf Club has had a Junior Green Tees course set up which provides a shortened course specifically for the Juniors. This will become a measured course in the near future and we hope that by the summer most of the juniors will be sufficiently proficient to play this, and to gain handicaps on this course.
We are an accredited SafeGolf Club and for 2022 have been selected by England Golf to be a Girls Golf Rocks Venue. To book on the Girls Golf Rocks Taster Sessions please click below.
Welcome to Our Club
A big hello to all you Juniors. We are delighted to introduce you to our wonderful Club and we hope you will have many happy and enjoyable years playing here.
We have Junior Members and a number of non-Members regularly attending coaching sessions. We welcome all ages from 5 years of age upwards and of any ability – from beginners to low handicappers
Playing golf is great fun, it gives you the opportunity to spend time outdoors and is a game that will be continued throughout your life time, regardless of age, skill level, ethnicity or gender.
We hope that by learning the game of golf, in our safe junior environment, will really help you maintain a positive outlook to both your play and yourself in general. It will also enable you to mix and make friends with other young people whilst developing social skills and manage your emotions.
So, PLEASE come and give us a try – YOU have nothing to lose but a lot to gain!
Becoming a Junior Member
Junior Membership is available to all under the age of 18; upon joining you will receive a Stockport Golf Club Cap and will be able to access regular group lessons with our team of Professionals.
We also operate a CLUB SWAP scheme through the Professional Shop – we know how quickly Juniors grow and so we enable Juniors to swap the Clubs they have grown out of for a set of clubs another Junior once grew out of!

Junior Competitions
The following Competitions form the 2023 Junior Competition Calendar – Monthly Sunday Junior Events
To be held every 2nd Sunday afternoon of each month throughout the year (*with the exception of September 2023 which will be on the 4th Sunday).
It is for all members under 18, including those on the Golf Access (Green Tees)
Format – Stableford, Medal, Fun Team Competitions (some including adults) etc. Depending on ability and timings – 18 holes, 15 holes, 12 holes, 9 holes and Golf Access (building up from 3 – 9 holes). Indoor activities if the weather is poor. Notification of times and the type of competition will be given in the reminder email each month. Dates will also be in the club diary.
