Elisabeth has been at the heart of the county since she first represented Cheshire in 1970. She still holds the record for the most years representing the County spanning 24 years and this does not include those years playing in the County senior’s team.
Lis and her mother hold the honour of both mother and daughter being both Captain and President of the County. Marie Allinson was Captain in 1977 and President in 1990 with Lis following her as Captain in 1991. Lis was County President in 2014, Senior Captain in 2011 and Senior President 2021/2022.
When Captain Lis introduced a new team scratch inter club knockout competition. Part of the rules was that a weekend date must be included in those offered to include those players unavailable for the regular other team matches. At Stockport she introduced an annual trophy for the most improved player. She has always taken a keen interest in all golfers supporting, encouraging, playing and travelling miles! Her support extended to the professional circuit with her role within Christians in Sport.
Lis was part of the winning County team in 1989 which won County Finals at Frilford Heath for the first time in 57 years. A feat which they repeated the following year at Budleigh Salterton.
For many years Lis was also the scratch score assessor for the county travelling miles and walking all the fairways across the county to provide each course with a standard scratch score.
In 1974 and 1984 she reached the national finals of the Daily Mail foursomes with her mother Marie Allison as her partner and she was Cheshire champion at Wilmslow in 1975 and runner up in 1971,79, 80 and 82. Partnered by Julia hill she won the 1984 northern foursomes and she also won the Manchester and district Challenge Cup in 1982 at North Manchester, further success came for Lis when she won the Lloyd Jones scratch Challenge Cup in 1973 at Hazel Grove,1981 at Wilmslow, 1982 at North Manchester and 1990 at Stockport. She also won the Comboy scratch trophy at Sandiway in 1982.
Lis was Captain at Stockport GC I 1999 and Nefyn GC in 2016. She has won the Scratch Gold medal, for the lowest medal score of the year at Stockport, no less that 25 times and 19 of those in consecutive years.
